Book Obsession
This evening, after reading Goodnight Moon 123 for the hundredth time, I realized that I haven't blogged about Sophia's addiction to print. She loves books -- always has. But it wasn't until recently that she has become a little obsessive about which one or two books must be read at nap and bedtime. The girl has an over-flowing basket filled with all sorts of books that we have read over and over, but she won't look at any of them unless we read one in particular. Two weeks ago it was a book called The Smartest Giant in Town, which is a fairly long book to commit to every time we sit down. Before that it was The Gruffalo -- also a book that is just a bit too long for me to have perfectly memorized. Two weeks seems to be my limit, then the book starts getting piled under all of the rest in the basket. If she finds it, we read it. But, when she doesn't, it seems to prompt her to pick a new favorite that she can't go without. The one exception is a book called Mommies. I found it in a box of old books from my preschool teaching days. It is the last book we read before she gets into the crib and she sleeps with it. It is looking pretty worn. It is out of print, but it looks like I can get a replacement copy if I ever need to.
